Tampa Bay native Daynie Rain began Love Letters Mailbox in early 2021 with no expectations for the project other than to provide a place for herself and others to express what might otherwise go unsaid. Fascinated by the intentionality created by putting pen to paper, she set in place the first mailbox hidden between the branches of Hallett Park in Belleair. Within the first month of the mailbox being up, strangers had already begun opening up in the most beautiful ways. Letters to significant others, friends, family, to love ones who had passed- all began filling the pages of the first little blue notebook. After realizing how many people had been touched by the project, she began the process of expanding to what is now nearly a dozen locations across Florida. The project has since been featured in the Tampa Bay Times, Bay News 9, ABC action News, Channel 8 News, and more.
